Pet Brasil Project expands global presence with 19 actions in Q1 2025
São Paulo, April 2025 – The Pet Brasil sectoral project, developed by the Pet Brasil Institute (IPB) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), executed a total of 19 international actions during the first quarter of 2025, aiming to strengthen the presence of Brazilian companies in the global market. The agenda included 17 business rounds with importers from Latin America and the Caribbean, participation in the Global Pet Expo in the United States, and a webinar about Thailand's pet market.
Between January and March, IPB promoted strategic meetings with buyers from Chile, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic, showcasing the variety, quality, and innovation of Brazilian companies in the sector. The business rounds follow a direct export promotion model, allowing micro, small, and medium-sized companies to access markets with technical and institutional support. Throughout 2025, new agendas are planned with countries in Africa and the Middle East.
"The global expansion strategy of the Brazilian pet sector is based on continuous and articulated actions. We are committed to opening real pathways for our companies to gain worldwide recognition - states Caio Villela, Executive President of the Pet Brasil Institute - according to him, these rounds are essential to transform the industry’s potential into concrete results abroad. “We will continue opening doors and connecting what we do best with what the world needs”.
One of the sector's main global showcases, the Global Pet Expo 2025 took place between March 26-28 in Orlando, Florida. Brazilian participation featured a national pavilion promoted by the Pet Brasil project, bringing together five brands. Organized by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) and the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA), the expo welcomed more than a thousand exhibitors and 22,000 visitors from 85 countries in its latest edition.
"The Global Pet Expo is an opportunity to position Brazil as a hub of innovation and quality in animal nutrition, veterinary care, and accessories. The world is increasingly attentive to what we produce here," notes Villela.
Still within the quarter's strategic agenda, on March 11, IPB promoted the webinar "Thailand Pet Market Study" through the Pethub platform, featuring researcher Luciane Franke from Unisinos. The activity provided a complete overview of Thai consumer behavior, regulatory requirements, distribution channels, and opportunities for Brazilian products. The Asian country is considered an emerging and strategic market, especially in the premium and natural segments.
These initiatives are part of the continuous planning of the Pet Brasil Project, which seeks to position the country as a global reference in the sector. The approach combines direct commercial promotion, market intelligence, product adaptation support, and participation in major international events. Additionally, the project also encourages contact with foreign buyers at fairs held in Brazil.
